Concorde's Last Day

•  Captain  ................................ Capt Mike Bannister

•  Co Pilot................................. SFO Jonathan Napier

•  Engineering Flight Officer ...... SEO David Hoyle

•  Engineering Flight Officer ...... SEO Robert Woodcock

A few mins later she was given clearance for take off…….Mike lit her afterburners, throttled her engines to full power and she slowly started moving forward ….. For the last time in her life Concorde (fully loaded with passengers and crew) made her last take off run on the JFK - Heathrow route……

A few seconds later she was accelerating very very rapidly........30 seconds later she left the ground and said fare well to New York as she thundered loudly in to the sky (waking up local residents living around JFK) and rapidly headed east towards UK and London her home.

During her take off run a few of my friends from America stood at shore of  lake close to JFK Airport to see the final take off.

This is the video of Mike Bannister’s speech  and

G-BOAG’s last take off  from  JFK Airport

After Mike made his speech, he got Concorde ready for take off. While doing this he talked to

JFK Air Traffic Control.

While I was walking around Heathrow Airport trying to find a good spot to see her land, in America Captain Mike Bannister was making a speech to the worlds press about importance of the last and final flight of Concorde from New York to the UK

When this was over the VIP passengers boarded G-BOAG….. Mike and his crew got G-BOAG ready  and for the last time they  sadly  and slowly  taxied Concorde out to JFK’s runway 31L.

Just out side the BA Terminal staff at JFK airport gave Concorde a water a salute (this is highest honour an aircraft can receive) and it showed how much people at JFK loved and respected her……Then Concorde continued her slow and final journey to the runway...

On her way there countless people stopped work for a few mins and watched Concorde taxii by them….. BBC News and Sky News broadcast whole event live on UK tv.

At 1-ish pm (UK time) Concorde finally  reached the end of runway 31L, her pilots did the final pre-take off checks and then waited for JFK-ATC to give clearance for take off…..
