In the cabin

The cabin lights came back on, the seat belt signs where still on but I could see the other passengers starting to get out of their seats and the stewardess where starting to walk around the cabin, I took my seat belt off and I relaxed.

Andréa Larta - Cabin service director came on to Concorde’s tannoy and said in a posh voice

:-

(click on above to listen to actual audio of it)

Good evening ladies and gentlemen  I’d like to just very briefly introduce my self my name is Andréa Larta and I am your cabin service director on board this British airways 001 Concorde flight to New York.

My in charge colleague this evening is purser Martine Bell and if there is anything at all we can do to help you please don’t hesitate to call us by finding the crew call down button above your head …………………………..

As your aware the overhead fasten seat belt signs are still illuminated so I’d ask you please to continue to observe these signs and when the captain switched them off we do strongly recommend  you do keep the seat belts just loosely fastened at this deborger in the flight ……………

In just a few moments from now we shall be starting the cabin service, coming through with drinks followed by full meal service and then duty free goods will be available for purchase and once again if there is anything at all we can do to help you this evening please do not hesitate to call us, we do hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

In the time it took Andréa to say the above (1 ½ minutes) we had climbed another 500 feet from 6000ft to 6500ft and had accelerated from 408 mph to 478 mph……We where starting to move but you could not feel any acceleration or  g-force on the body at all it was that smooth and gentle.

If I had not briefly looked at the mach meters I wouldn’t have known we had accelerated this fast in such a short space of time.
